The Foothills
Views and Sunsets Awaits
The Foothills are the gateway to the Sandia Mountains. Sandia, which means “watermelon” in Spanish, describes the beautiful pink and red tones that radiate across our vibrant mountains. Not only do the mountains let us know we are facing east, they are also the prime view in the Albuquerque area! With several open spaces in the Sandia Foothills and many trails, this is a nature lover’s paradise. Another aspect many people love is the easy access to shopping, the freeway, schools, and parks.
Tramway offers a biking, jogging, and walking trail along the main road that provides miles of outdoor entertainment. Several golf courses are in or nearby the area, along with parks, dog parks, summertime concerts in the park, and plenty of sports activities that can be enjoyed most of the year. We also offer loads of sunshine, 310 days of it in fact, so you may find yourself cheering for a rainy day to stay inside and make your favorite soup (Albuquerque Weather). Last but not least is the Tram. You have to ride it at least once, and it’s located right in the Foothills. Learn more at Sandia Peak Tramway.
